  7. Does a trade 'imbalance' hurt the US economy?

Trade imbalances are reported by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) every month. Does an imbalance matter and how does it impact the US economy?

  8. Some countries have no real comparative advantage do they have anything to trade?

Some countries have natural comparative advantages, e.g. oil wealth or wine making - others don't have these resources or simply aren't as good at manufacturing or the service industry - do they still have anything to trade that other countries would want and if not how to they resolve this?

  11. Request to make a video describing economic situation on Iran.

Please make a video on current Iran economic situation. How different deals positively and negatively affected Iran and how the break of the deals affected the economy of Iran. And why currency is falling and fluctuating??

  13. What happens to the US economy when other countries catch up on specialization and innovation?

The course assumes trade for unlike goods. Yet electronics is an integrated industry. What happens as more countries develop the innovation capacity in electronics and their economies begin to look more like the US's? What happens to our comparative advantage and trading position?

  14. Why does the world not switch to one currency?

We should have one currency. It would be more efficient.

  16. Are employed people actually employed in the best way?

Walking down the local streets, we can see many vendors, selling petty things, sitting idle most of the time , dependent on consumer's mood or rare needs. Still they are called employed. But here labor & human capital is not being used in the most efficient way. Sitting idle makes a person's mind sluggish.

  19. Buy Local, Lost Economic Gains

I would suggest a couple of follow-up examples that illustrate the economic harm by the good intentions of overly aggressive "buy local."

  20. How is the value of a domestic maritime fleet related to the economics and infrastructure of a specific trading nation?

One idea centers around whether subsidy for a merchant fleet generates enough domestic economic activity (wages and employment, taxes, shipyards, suppliers) sufficiently larger than the subsidy.
